Karen A. Keegan

As an Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Arthur K. Smith, A Professional Corporation, Karen A. Keegan engages in a general civil trial practice throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, with an emphasis on insurance coverage disputes, personal injury, transportation and environmental litigation. In the area of personal injury litigation, Ms. Keegan handles cases involving general negligence, premises liability and products liability. In the field of commercial litigation, her cases have dealt with a variety of issues, including contractual breaches, RICO and other business fraud, the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, professional malpractice, and director and officer liability.

Prior to joining the firm in 1995, Ms. Keegan worked as in-house counsel for a transportation insurer, where she focused on the supervision of trucking litigation and environmental and toxic tort litigation. She was also actively involved in the administration of workers' compensation claims filed through bankruptcy proceedings.

Ms. Keegan graduated from the University of Illinois in 1982 and earned her law degree from Georgia State University in 1992 while working full-time managing an insurance company's branch claims office. She is a member of the Defense Research Institute and formerly served as Vice-Chair of the organization's Transportation/Trucking Law Committee.
